The Walt Disney Company does not own Dreamworks but has a long-standing relationship with the company. The two have collaborated on several projects, including the animated hit Shrek.
Dreamworks was founded in 1994 by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and David Geffen. The trio had previously worked together at Disney, where they had a hand in producing some of the studio’s biggest hits, including The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin.
Dreamworks has been responsible for some of the most beloved animated films of the last 25 years, including the Shrek series, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon. The studio has also had success with its live-action films, such as the Transformers series and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
